An evaluation should do more than document what has been done. It should show what has changed, where findings are reliable and which decisions follow from them. Hafelekar combines qualitative and quantitative social research with a clear focus on objectives, implementation and impact.
From research questions to a basis for decisions
We start by clarifying together which questions need answers, what data already exist and who should be involved. This forms the basis for an appropriate research design. Depending on the assignment, we use interviews, surveys, document analysis or workshops and bring together different perspectives.
We distinguish between activities, immediate outputs and longer-term outcomes and impacts. Where the data do not support a clear conclusion, we make that limitation explicit. We present findings so that clients and participants can understand how assessments were reached and what next steps they support.
What we examine
- Achievement of objectives and quality of implementation
- Experiences of target groups and participating organisations
- Benefits, relevance and opportunities for further use
- Enabling conditions, barriers and practical opportunities for improvement
Selected evaluation and research projects
The following projects illustrate different research questions, target groups and methodological approaches:
- Evaluation of care services for the Province of Tyrol
- Evaluation of SOS Children’s Villages
- Study of social welfare associations in Upper Austria
- Study of migration in Salzburg
Would you like a sound evaluation of a project, programme or service? In an initial conversation, we clarify which questions really matter for decisions and what approach is appropriate.
